Professor Anil Chandra Bandopadhyay was a prominent professor at Calcutta University. He became the Principal of Maharaja Manindrachandra College, Calcutta in 1953, before which he was a lecturer in history at Calcutta College. He taught for 40 long years. Guru Nanak of Jadavpur University retired in 1975 as Professor of Indian History. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Calcutta University and the President of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. As a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, he served as an educationist nominated by the Governor. He was the President of Punjab History Conference in 1971 and Rajasthan History Congress in 1973. In the meantime, some of his own books have been highly acclaimed in various countries, including India. Several of them have been acclaimed by the readers. These are The Eastern Frontier of British India, Peshwa Madhavrao, Lectures on Rajput History, The Rajput State and British Paramountcy, Guru Nanak and the Times, Constitutional History of India (Vol. III) and The Agricultural System of Bengal (Vol. II). He was also the editor of The Comprehensive History of India Volume.
Eminent historian Dr. Anil Chandra Bandyopadhyay History of India was written in English and was published in 1944. Translations were published in Russian, Romanian, Sinhala and Assamese.
