We know the names and details of most of the kings of ancient India from these ancient texts. The names of many kings are available from ancient coins but no further historical details are available. Many details of the art and civilization of the time can be found from the ruins of ancient statues and houses.
Secondly: – From the literature of ancient India, scriptures called Puranas and biographies of some kings, many valuable information about political history is known. Apart from all these we can learn many things from ancient literature about society, religion, customs etc.
Third : Foreign Books Many foreign travelers came to India and wrote various accounts of this country. Among them, Greek Megasthenes, Hiuen and Yi Tsing of China and Al Beruni of Arab countries are among them. We also get a lot of help from foreign history and rock inscriptions.
