The popular fictional characters he created in science fiction are Detective Feluda and Professor Shanku. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian award, by the Government of India, and the Padma Bhushan. Satyajit Ray died on 23 April 1992 due to a heart attack.
