Prabodh Kumar Sanyal wrote the Bengali novel Parjyataker Patra.
The famous novelist of the Kallol era, Prabodh Kumar Sanyal, was born on 7 July 1905 in Chorabagan, North Kolkata. He was a famous Bengali writer, journalist and traveler. His literary pen name was Kirtaniya. He was also the editor of the contemporary newspapers Bijli, Swadesh and Padatik. During his career, he worked in the Hooghly Postal Department and the Accounts Office of the Military Department.
He loved to travel both at home and abroad. He not only traveled to India, Bhutan and Nepal, but also to many parts of Asia, Europe, America and Russia. During this travel, he accumulated a lot of experience. Based on this travel experience, he wrote books such as Mahaprasthaner Pathe (1937), Russia’s Diary, Debatma Himalaya etc.
His first novel Yajabar was published in 1928. After that, he wrote novels and short stories like Galpa Sanchayan, Priyobhandhabi, Agragami, Zankabanka, Pushpadhanu, Bibagi Bhramar, Hasubanu, Banahansi, Kaach Kata Hire, Nishipadma etc. The travelogue book Mahaprasthaner Pathe held a special place in Bengali literature.
In recognition of his literary work, Prabodh Kumar won the Gold Medal of the University of Calcutta, Shishir Kumar Award, Motilal Award, Sarat Award and Ananda Award.
